True Dark Mode is committed to protecting your privacy. This extension is designed to work entirely locally on your device without collecting, transmitting, or storing any personal data.
Data Collection
We do not collect any data. True Dark Mode:
- Does not track your browsing history
- Does not collect personal information
- Does not use analytics or tracking scripts
- Does not communicate with external servers
- Does not sell or share any data (because we don't have any)
Local Storage
The extension stores your preferences (such as brightness settings, whitelist, and disabled sites) locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage API. This data never leaves your device and is only used to remember your settings between browser sessions.
Permissions
True Dark Mode requests the following permissions:
- storage - To save your preferences locally
- activeTab - To apply dark mode to the current tab
- scripting - To inject CSS for dark mode styling
- host_permissions - To apply dark mode on websites you visit
These permissions are used solely for the core functionality of applying dark mode to web pages. We do not use these permissions to collect or transmit any data.

True Dark Mode is open source. You can review the entire codebase on GitHub to verify our privacy practices.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
